Hailing from Jamaica gives any artist a certain legitimacy, but it also brings certain expectations— ones which Sevana lives up to, but also defies. While reflecting the island’s musical sensibilities in some ways, Sevana’s vocals are strongly influenced by R&B and soul. Her inspirations include ballad powerhouses Anita Baker, Beyonce and Celine Dion. As part of reggae star Protoje’s management and label company, In.Digg.Nation Collective, the singer-songwriter recently signed with Six Course/RCA Records
