Music Duo

sym fera is a genre-bending alternative electronic rock duo made up of Nick Simmons and Vinnie Fera.

Their first and second Eps were released totally anonymously, under State of The Art Records, helmed by Ian McEvily, Mark Jordan, Mike Clemenza, who themselves did not know the real names of the band members until they had already made an offer to sign them. The band was immediately heavily synced on television, appearing prominently in the season finale of the hit Netflix show Ozark, as well as FOX’s The Resident and Prodigal Son – all of whom did not have knowledge of the band’s identity.

Fans of these shows flocked to streaming services and online, trying to find out more to no avail, as the band released on after another of cryptic, cinematic music videos and shadow live performances that showcased a unique and dramatic artist project, drawing comparison to Pink Floyd, James Blake, and Bon Iver.

The brand was covered by numerous press outlets including Rolling Stone, which praised the band’s dark, orchestral single “little things” while speculating about their identities. The band performed a single live, invitation-only concert at the Lodge Room in LA, in which they collected phones in sealed bags to prevent filming and disguised their identities using audio-reactive lighting.
